CJP takes notice of abroad recruitment of Punjab CM’s former principal secretary

LAHORE (Muslim Times) – The Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar on Satutday took suo motu notice of former principal secretary to the Punjab chief minister Dr Tauqir Shah’s appointment in Geneva.

The court has summoned Shah and his complete service record on the next hearing.

In a conversation with Punjab Health Minister Khwaja Salman Rafique, the CJP inquired, “Why was Shah sent abroad. Why the colours on your face have faded over the notice?”

He replied, “I am only responsible for my own actions.”

“I have heard the Shah has rendered many services to Punjab CM. Shah has been sent to which place?” asked the CJP. The chief secretary informed the court that Shah has been sent to World Trade Organization in Geneva.

“The court should be told on whose reference was Shah recruited By the way where is Geneva situated?” said the judge. The chief secretary replied that Geneva is in Switzerland and is a nice country.

“This is the same country where people accumulate their wealth,” remarked the CJP. “Yes it is famous for stashing wealth,” said the chief secretary.

“The fame is good for Switzerland but not for Tauqir Shah. If necessary, principal secretary of Punjab CM will also be summoned,” remarked the CJP.

The court directed the secretary establishment to submit the record of Shah’s appointment as member of World Trade Organization.

Hearing of the suo motu notice case pertaining to bad condition of government hospitals was also held in SC Lahore registry.

A two-member bench heard the case during which judicial assistant Ayesha Hamid requested the court to provide two weeks time to present recommendations in the matter.

The court while rejecting the appeal directed to submit the recommendations in one week.
